From the days of the Spanish conquistadors to today’s modern mining operations, Mexico has a rich tradition in mining and is home to many historic mining districts. Perhaps best known as one of the world’s leading silver producers, Mexico is also host to significant gold, copper and zinc deposits.
Many junior resource companies have an active presence in Mexico. However, few have the established track record and significant exploration experience of Newstrike’s management team, which was instrumental in the discovery of over eight million ounces in the Guerrero Gold Belt, home to Goldcorp’s Bermejal, Nukay and Los Filos deposits, and Gleichen Resources Limon-Los Guajes deposit. The present hub of activity for gold exploration in Guerrero State, the Guerrero Gold Belt has an established inventory of over 12 million ounces of gold, which continues to increase with ongoing exploration and mine development. Newstrike today controls an important strategic position within this significant gold camp.
As the largest holder of mineral claims in State of Oaxaca where there have been recent, sizable discoveries, Newstrike is also following the Mexican silver trail. Newstrike’s claims are in proximity to Fortuna Silver’s San Jose project, which contains over 124 million ounces of silver and 1.05 million ounces of gold. Newstrike’s Etujla II claim is also contiguous on its southern boundary with Aura Silver’s Alma Delia property, host to a recently discovered Higo Blanco silver mineralized jasperoid breccia which occurs in one of the many veins of the Taviche system.
